Bids for an inter county bridge connecting Lancaster and Chester Counties were opened On This Day in 1880. Brinton Carter, of
Lancaster, will be awarded the bid. His bid was $1,662. Two men from
Chester County did come in lower but they only bid for the wood work. Carter’s bid included the wood work and the actual construction.
